Erika Black has photographed weddings across Michigan and surrounding states since 2017, and her goal is simple: she wants couples to look back at their photos in thirty years and feel the day again, not just see it.

Based in Metro Detroit, her biggest concentration and the thing that she loves the most is creating legacy art. She has an art background and loves to use that in her photography. She’s inspired by couples’ authenticity and elevating that with style.

She cares just as much about how the whole process feels as she does about the photos. Her couples get handwritten notes from her along the way and messages that sound like her, not a template or someone else responding for her.

She loves to travel all over Michigan and has fallen in love with this state in the 10+ years she has lived here. She feels the beauty around every corner cannot be beat, and she believes that shows up in all Michigan weddings.

Professionally along with photography, she is a real estate agent in Michigan. She lives with her husband and their two cats, Banjo and Tunic.

Erika and her husband do everything together, including traveling, but also staying in to play board games and watch movies. They also like to kayak, read, and just spend time together.

Her love for her family and her craft are truly admirable, and we can’t wait to see her future work at The Northfork Estate. :)
